Dementia and design: facing the challenges

When the design and manufacturing team at Shackletons wanted to learn more about designing for people with dementia, they turned to industry expert Dr Claire Craig from Sheffield Hallam University for her advice and guidance

In order to understand what it is like to live with dementia and how design can be applied to help those with dementia maintain a good quality of life, the team at Shackletons compiled a list of questionsto which Dr Craig has provided the answers. 

What does it feel like to have dementia?

“Everyone is different,” is a lovely quote. “Once you’ve met one person with dementia, you’ve met one person with dementia.” Ultimately, everybody is completely unique.
