£13m Hallmark home opens

Professional dancer, Ian Waite was the guest of honour recently at the opening of a new £13m Hallmark care home in Girton, Cambridge.

Waite, who is best known for his appearances on the BBC hit show Strictly Come Dancing cut the ribbon in front of 200 interested guests recently as part of Arlington Manor Care Home’s official grand launch event.

As part of the residential and dementia care home’s special event, guests were invited to view the state of the art facilities, which includes a cinema, hairdresser, therapy room and café.

Other design innovations at the home include: a physio room, a musical room, a celebrations room which can be reserved for functions, a winter terrace and an outdoor putting green.

The afternoon event which was attended by local businesses and care professionals was culminated by speeches and a buffet lunch.

Speaking at the launch, Waite said: “It is an absolute honour to be here and I cannot believe how much detail has gone into this place. It’s not a care home, it’s a home. The space and the light is astounding and I’m sure anybody would want to come here.”

Hallmark Care Homes managing director, Ram Goyal said: “I am delighted that Arlington Manor Care Home is now officially open.

“We are looking forward to making Arlington Manor a part of the community providing outstanding care for residents in the future, enabling them to live life to the full.”

General manager at Arlington Manor Care Home, Zoe Kirk said: “I am so proud to be part of the team who have grouped together and have made Arlington Manor the beautiful home that it is today.

“At Hallmark Care Homes we take pride in providing high quality relationship centred care to the ladies and gentlemen we support and I am excited to be able to lead the team here at Arlington Manor and encourage the team to continue showing the enthusiasm and passion that they have shown in the weeks leading up to this grand launch event.

“We hope to be a well respected member of the Girton community and I am excited to welcome our first residents into the home so they can experience the amazing care that I know we will provide.”
