Manor House shortlisted for award

The Manor House Harrogate care home has been shortlisted in the Healthcare Design Awards; the 87 room home opened to residents in November and provides residential, dementia and respite care.

Expert judges in the fields of care and design visited the development by Hadrian Healthcare Group to make their final assessment and to meet members of the development team, staff and residents.

The awards aim to promote and recognise the very best developments in all types of care related property, and the award categories seek to acknowledge the contribution made by home owners, designers and architects to the wellbeing and quality of life of those in their care.

The judges presented the finalist trophy to home manager Stephanie Foulds with a cheque for £500 for the project's chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation.

Speaking on behalf of the development team, Jen Bernard, managing director of interior design practice, Bernard Interiors, comments: “We are thrilled to see The Manor House recognised in this way. It’s a tribute to the vision of our client, Hadrian Healthcare, and the work of everyone involved.

“We are very proud to be part of the team alongside architecture practice ARP Design and contractor Walter Thompson.”

The home is situated in Harrogate's Duchy Conservation Area and has been developed in a manner sensitive to the site’s history and the architectural character of its surroundings.

The impressive gothic façade of the original Victorian house on the site has been retained and restored as part of the new building, which combines high quality traditional materials with expert craftsmanship and views to the surrounding landscaped gardens.

The interior is designed to provide comfort and promote wellbeing whilst allowing staff to provide great care safely and efficiently.

The award winners will be announced on 13 March at the Royal Lancaster London.
