Quantum welcomes Elizabeth House

Hertfordshire care provider Quantum Care has welcomed Elizabeth House care home in Panshanger to the family with a celebration event for residents, staff and volunteers.

Quantum Care, which provides specialist residential and day care to elderly people across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex, acquired Elizabeth House in June from Welwyn Garden City Housing Association (WGCHA).

To celebrate the transition, residents, staff and volunteers were joined by senior members of the Quantum Care team for a welcome party, during which guests were treated to entertainment from local musician Jamie and enjoyed a delicious buffet laid on by the home’s catering team.

Resident Gus Vodden, 96, was then given the honour of cutting the official celebration cake alongside chief executive Maria Ball.

To draw the celebrations to a close, relative Susan Pick then presented the home with a framed photograph of her father and former chair of WGCHA Roy Ashdown, meeting Her Royal Highness the Queen Mother when Elizabeth House first opened its doors in 1983.

Maria Ball, chief executive of Quantum Care, says: “Today’s event was a wonderful way to officially welcome residents, staff and volunteers to Quantum Care and I would like to thank all the staff at Elizabeth House who made the event possible.

“As a fellow not-for-profit care home, Elizabeth House is the perfect new addition to Quantum Care’s group of homes across Hertfordshire. I am looking forward to getting to know the staff and residents over the coming months. All staff at Elizabeth House will remain the same to ensure residents continue to receive care from people they know and are comfortable with.”

Leon Nyariri, home manager at Elizabeth House, says: “Everyone at Elizabeth House is extremely excited to be joining Quantum Care. The welcome party today was the perfect way to break the ice and get to know senior staff over a glass of bubbly and some delicious cake. The residents all had a lovely time and we’re very much looking forward to our future together."
