Welcoming visitors back into care homes

As we move into a new normal and visitors begin to be welcomed back into care homes, Care England chief executive Martin Green provides guidance on how to accommodate this safely and further advice on cleaning procedures.

One of the most difficult aspects of the recent Covid-19 crisis has been that care homes have had to lock down in order to protect their residents.

The impact that this has had on occupants, their families and friends is immeasurable. It also meant that care staff have had to be the bridge between the residents and their loved ones, and this has been particularly difficult when they are supporting people living with dementia.

Many care homes have been desperate to reinstate visiting but have also been mindful of their responsibilities to keep Covid-19 out of their homes.
