MPs will question Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock on the government’s plans for a long-term solution on social care reform on Tuesday.
Hancock (pictured) will be quizzed during the health select committee’s final session in its ‘Social care: funding and workforce’ inquiry on 8 September at 11am.
The inquiry aims to establish how much extra money the government needs to allocate to social care if pressures on the NHS are to be reduced.
As well as future funding, the session will also focus on wider reform of the sector, its workforce and the recruitment of workers from overseas.
Representatives of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services and the Local Government Association will also give evidence.
The inquiry has taken a broad range of evidence in previous sessions including the experiences of those who depend on social care and heard from economist Sir Andrew Dilnot, the architect of planned reforms on its funding.
The committee will also put questions to Hancock relating to its ongoing health and social care inquiries.
