Opening doors: making the most of Care Home Open Week

Care Home Open Week takes place on 27 June to 3 July. Here, Rebecca Woolley, director of organisers Championing Social Care, explains why it is a perfect opportunity to showcase care home environments while engaging the local community

Care Home Open Week is all about connecting care homes across the country with local communities whilst showcasing their incredible facilities, care teams and residents.

Unless members of the public have a relative living within a caring environment, they are unlikely to know what life is like in a modern care facility and may only see care homes when they are in the media, often for negative reasons. The programme is back for 2022 and will be asking care homes to once again inspire the nation from 27 June to 3 July.

Those of us who work in the sector know that care homes can be inspiring places, with state-of-the-art facilities to support residents to live comfortable and enriched lives. Care homes also provide colleagues with a space to be motivated and energised, building incredible working relationships, all focused on the same goal – to make life better for those they care for.
