Oxfordshire care home sold to Hanning Homes

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has completed the sale of The Old Vicarage care home near Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

The 52-bed Old Vicarage, previously owned by Friends of the Elderly, has been sold to Hanning Homes Ltd, marking the company’s first step into the care sector. Friends of the Elderly chose Hanning Homes as the buyer due to its close alignment of values and commitment to quality care.

Jennifer Griffiths, interim co-chief executive of Friends of the Elderly, said: “It was very important for Friends of the Elderly to find a buyer who shared our values and had a clear vision for the future of The Old Vicarage. We wish Hanning Homes every success as they take The Old Vicarage forward.”

Hanning Homes CEO Charlie Vaughan-Lee commented: “I am delighted to have purchased such a lovely home and would like to thank Friends of the Elderly for helping me start my journey into the care sector. I am looking forward to building on the home’s strong local reputation and working with the staff and residents to enrich the lives of everyone at the home.”

Charles Phillips, director – care at Christie & Co, added: “The Old Vicarage is a superb care home, and we obtained strong interest and multiple offers during the marketing campaign. This demonstrates there is very good demand for similar homes in this area and also the wider south. It has been a pleasure working with both the sellers and the purchaser on this deal, and we wish them both the best of luck with their future plans.”
