Derbyshire home unveils specialist mental health provision

Orchard Care Homes’ Eckington Court Nursing Home in Derbyshire has become the second home to incorporate the provider’s pioneering Reconnect Mental Health service.

Reconnect Mental Health provides specialist support for older people living with complex mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, delirium, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and substance use disorders.

To provide personalised support, Reconnect Mental Health operates an enhanced specialist support worker-to-resident ratio. Colleagues receive expert, bespoke training through the Orchard Academy, giving them the advanced skills and understanding needed to support older people living with complex mental health needs.

Responding to the growing demand for specialist mental health care provision for older people, Orchard’s Reconnect communities are a key part of the group’s long-term strategy to modernise and enhance care for older people across the UK.

Home manager Trudy Godley said: “Bringing Reconnect Mental Health Care to Eckington Court is a real honour. Knowing we’re creating a place where people feel understood, supported and genuinely at home means the world to all of us.”

Orchard Care Homes CEO Hayden Knight added: “This opening represents a major step in our commitment to providing truly specialised and person-centred care for older people, and I want to thank the Eckington Court team for their exceptional hard work. We’re proud to deliver Reconnect Mental Health Care to the Derbyshire region and to support people living with complex mental health conditions in a way that truly meets their needs.”
