Ashmead Care Centre in Putney is holding a community open day to celebrate a £1.2m wellbeing-focussed refurbishment.
Later this month, the centre will welcome Fleur Anderson, MP for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields, and the wider community to an open day celebrating the completion of a five-month refurbishment project enhancing living spaces and facilities at the home, which specialises in nursing and dementia care.
The upgrade includes a bespoke reception with a café and seating area, a new nursing unit, and a luxury private dementia unit, alongside renovations to hallways, dining rooms, lounges, and the terrace and outdoor spaces.
A key part of the work was the development of a lifestyle suite, with a hair salon and a new wellness room offering classes and treatments including yoga and massages.
The open day will also see the launch of a new partnership with Hair Angels, a specialist dementia-friendly hairdressing service, which will visit Ashmead’s salon twice weekly to offer hairdressing to both residents and the wider community.
Luminita Cupsa, home manager at Ashmead Care Centre, said: “This refurbishment has been a fantastic opportunity to enhance the environment for everyone who lives and works at Ashmead. The new wellbeing spaces, in particular, will support relaxation and social connection, and we’re delighted to be able to share them with the local community at our open day.”
