Furthering its commitment to addressing the ongoing challenge of food waste, apetito has positively impacted around 836 charities so far this year through donating the equivalent of 38,000 meals to food redistribution charity FareShare.
FareShare takes surplus food from across the food industry and redistributes it throughout its network of over 8,000 charitable organisations nationwide.
Since beginning a partnership in December 2023, apetito has been supporting FareShare’s mission of ensuring that no good food goes to waste by providing surplus ingredients and meals – furthering the charity’s incredible work in helping those who really need it.
Since January, the business’ support has helped many charitable organisations across the UK such as older people’s community groups, and those that are working with people experiencing homelessness, children, young people, and asylum seekers.
By redistributing this food, apetito has further reduced the environmental impacts associated with food waste, saving an estimated 35 tonnes of CO2 since the start of 2025.
Lee Sheppard, director of corporate affairs, policy and sustainability at apetito said: “We are committed to tackling the significant food waste challenge across all areas that we work in and are proud to have established this strong partnership with FareShare – an organisation with values aligned to our own.
“It is brilliant to see that our continued work together is making a real, positive difference to communities and charities across the country, making sure that edible food does not unnecessarily go to waste.”
Chris Jones, head of food partnerships at FareShare, said: “We are so grateful to apetito for their continued support for FareShare. By supplying us with surplus food, apetito are helping get good-to-eat food to the people who need it rather than it going to waste.
“Every day, food from FareShare is redistributed to network of over 8,000 charities across the UK, including homelessness shelters, after school clubs, refuges, and older people’s lunch clubs. apetito’s support for FareShare powers the redistribution of surplus food, helping strengthen communities and change lives while reducing waste."
