Sustainability and workforce challenges led the agenda for more than 100 delegates at the recent Caring for Care summit.
The event, held by commercial equipment solutions provider JLA, took place at Canopy by Hilton in London, was designed to equip attendees with actionable insights to achieve best practice in the key challenges facing social care.
Highlights included a workshop focussing on how to unlock the value of sustainability in the sector by better understanding a care home’s energy usage and hidden energy costs – led by David Stevens and Emma Anderson, CEO and director (respectively) of the Textile Services Association – and a panel discussion on tackling workforce challenges in care homes, featuring Nick Somani, CEO and founder of Kara Healthcare, Karolina Gerlich, CEO of The Care Workers’ Charity, Steve Winter, MD of Partnership Solutions, and Borderless CEO Matthew Bond.
The event also raised £700 for the Care Workers Charity, which will be used towards supporting services for those in care, such as essential home repairs and maintenance and funeral costs.
Jordan Roberts, chief commercial officer for JLA, said: "It was important for us to bring together this dedicated group of professionals from the industry because at our core, we genuinely care about care – not just providing equipment, but helping our partners navigate the challenges they face in their daily operations.
“The feedback was incredibly positive, with many attendees saying this was a unique and valuable opportunity for open collaboration between providers and suppliers. Our aim is to continually support and promote best practice and compliance, and in doing so, foster long-term relationships that benefit the entire industry.
“This is just the beginning – we’re committed to continuing these conversations and driving further progress through future events.”
