Leading supported housing provider Advance has completed its Thatcham House development in Gloucestershire.
Thatcham House – part of the Kingsway community in Quedgeley – provides 21 self-contained one-bedroom apartments for people living with mental health conditions and has been designed to help residents live independently with the support they need in a safe and welcoming environment. An additional apartment has also been completed for staff to use.
Each flat benefits from PV solar panels and electric heating to improve energy efficiency and reduce running costs. Residents will have access to communal lounges and landscaped gardens.
The scheme has been developed in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council and Kitto Group PLC, a development and construction company operating in the South West, Midlands and South Wales. The scheme was funded by Homes England and offers much-needed homes for social rent.
Graeme Jackson, head of investment and development at Advance, said: “Thatcham House is a huge milestone for us, being the largest scheme we’ve delivered to date. It brings together our commitment to providing safe, secure homes with the specialist support that enables customers to thrive. We’re proud to have worked with our partners to make this possible.”
Chris Rowe, managing director of Kitto Group Plc, commented: “Kitto has been pursuing the opportunity to bring forward this site for several years, and we’re especially proud to have helped Advance deliver its largest scheme to date. Thatcham House demonstrates what can be achieved through strong partnerships, providing high-quality, sustainable homes that make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Colin Beard, managing director of Prosperity Care, which will provide 24/7 on-site support, added: “We are offering an environment, structure and level of support that truly meets the needs of the individuals, empowering them to regain or enhance their independence and equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to move towards independent living. Seeing Thatcham House customers live fulfilling lives and achieve their goals is what makes what we do truly meaningful.”
