A 1.2 acre Gloucestershire site has been acquired by developer Barwood Capital ahead of seeking planning permission to construct a 64-bed care home.
The firm, which is working with partner Perseus Land & Developments, said it has struck the deal for the Hardwicke site as part of its ‘growth fund strategy to expand its exposure to the UK care sector through appropriately risk-adjusted development opportunities in undersupplied markets’.
It added ‘the scheme aims to bring forward vital capacity to the market’ following recent reports highlighting record care home investment is being constrained by ‘planning and viability challenges.’
Perseus director Will Chambers said the firm’s “assessment shows there is a shortfall of some c.160+ ensuite wet room bed spaces within the immediate three-mile catchment of the site.”
