Navigating change for a stronger future

As adult social care adapts to a rapidly changing political, financial and operational landscape, Molly Benson explores the key themes shaping this year’s Care Show Birmingham at the NEC on 7-8 October.

If the past few months have shown anything, it is that adult social care is no longer operating in the background of national conversation. From the re-invigoration of Baroness Casey's independent commission to ongoing discussions around workforce reform, immigration, commissioning and regulation, the sector is potentially facing a period of unprecedented change.

At the same time, those changes are arriving amid familiar pressures. Rising costs, increasingly complex care needs, regulatory uncertainty and challenging public perception continue to test providers across every part of the sector.

This year's Care Show Birmingham has therefore been built around a simple but timely theme: navigating change for a stronger future.
